Custom Sportswear & Teamwear Design Solutions
At EVO Sportswear, we believe great sportswear begins long before colours, fabrics and logos are placed on a garment.
Every project starts with understanding identity.
Whether we are designing a rugby jersey, a running singlet, a golf polo or a complete teamwear collection, our objective remains the same: create apparel that represents the people who wear it.
The following project demonstrates how a simple idea became a custom golf polo that carried the story of an event, a venue and a legacy.
Understanding the Garment
Every project begins with practical requirements.
For this project, the client required a custom golf polo for the Fifth Annual Ryan Gatgens Memorial Golf Day held at Curlewis Golf Club.
The garment selected was EVO's Full Custom Pro Polo, chosen for its premium appearance, comfort and suitability for both on-course performance and off-course wear.
This decision established the foundation of the project.
Understanding the Organisation Behind the Garment
Before design work begins, our team takes time to understand the organisation behind the apparel.
A memorial golf day is not simply a sporting event. It is a gathering of family, friends, sponsors and participants united by a shared purpose. The apparel therefore needed to communicate more than branding. It needed to reflect remembrance, respect, community and tradition.
Understanding this identity influences every design decision that follows.
The Initial Design Brief
The client provided a clear but intentionally minimal brief:
• Pantone 289C as the primary colour
• White highlights for contrast
• Sponsor logos on the back
• A subtle reference to Curlewis Golf Club
• A premium and commemorative appearance
• A garment participants would proudly wear both during and after the event
At this stage, we had direction. What we needed was a story.
Moving Beyond Decoration
One of the principles that guides EVO Sportswear's design team is simple:
We do not add graphics for the sake of filling space.
Every visual element should contribute to the identity of the garment.
Rather than selecting a generic pattern or abstract texture, our designers searched for a way to create a genuine connection between the apparel and the event itself.
The answer was hidden within the venue.
Finding Identity in the Landscape
Using satellite imagery, our design team studied Curlewis Golf Club from above.
Rather than viewing the golf course as a location, we viewed it as a design asset.
The course layout was traced and converted into vector artwork.
Fairways, curves and contours were simplified into a clean visual pattern that could be integrated into the garment design.
What began as a map became a signature design element.
Transforming Geography Into Design
Once the course layout had been converted into vector artwork, the next challenge was placement. The design needed to remain subtle. It needed to enhance the garment rather than dominate it. After multiple iterations, the pattern was carefully incorporated into the sleeves of the polo.
The result was a detail that many people may not immediately recognise, yet one that creates a meaningful connection between the garment and the venue. For participants familiar with Curlewis Golf Club, the design becomes instantly personal.

Colour Accuracy Matters
When clients specify colours, they are often communicating identity.
For this project, Pantone 289C was selected as the primary colour.
To ensure consistency between concept and production, EVO Sportswear references Pantone colour standards throughout the design and manufacturing process.
This allows colours approved during development to remain consistent when transferred onto the final garment.
For organisations, clubs and events, this consistency helps maintain brand integrity across every garment produced.

From Design to Production
Once artwork, colours and placement were approved, the project moved into production.
The garment was manufactured using EVO's Full Custom Pro Polo construction, incorporating:
• Premium performance fabric
• Professional stitching and finishing
• Full sublimation printing
• Consistent colour reproduction
• Size grading across the required range
Each element was produced according to the approved design specifications.

The Final Result
The finished polo achieved more than the requirements outlined in the original brief. It reflected the identity of the event. It celebrated the venue. It honoured the purpose behind the Ryan Gatgens Memorial Golf Day.
Most importantly, it provided participants with a garment carrying meaning beyond the event itself. This is the difference between placing artwork on apparel and designing apparel around identity.

The EVO Difference
Every organisation has a story. Every club has a culture. Every event has a purpose. At EVO Sportswear, our role is to translate those elements into apparel that people are proud to wear.
Whether the project involves custom sportswear, teamwear, golf polos, rugby jerseys, running singlets or sports uniforms, the process remains the same:
Understand the identity.
Develop the concept.
Refine the details.
Create apparel with meaning.
